Chromatin Reprogramming: Gender Equality during Arabidopsis Germline Differentiation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Large-scale histone H3 reprogramming during male germline differentiation is conserved between animals and plants. A new report now shows that histone H3 reprogramming also occurs in the female germline of the flowering plant Arabidopsis thaliana.

Genetic and Epigenetic landscape of Germline Stem Cells
Elucidating the critical epigenetics events involved in differentiation and reprogramming of cells to primordial germ cells (PGCs) is among the interesting issues in stem cell research. Here, I will talk about critical transcription factors and global hypomethylation in development of germ cells. Evidence strongly suggests that the earliest PGCs emerging in the E7.25 mouse embryo epiblast have...
متن کاملChromatin dynamics in pollen mother cells underpin a common scenario at the somatic-to-reproductive fate transition of both the male and female lineages in Arabidopsis
Unlike animals, where the germline is established early during embryogenesis, plants set aside their reproductive lineage late in development in dedicated floral organs. The specification of pollen mother cells (PMC) committed to meiosis takes place in the sporogenous tissue in anther locules and marks the somatic-to-reproductive cell fate transition toward the male reproductive lineage. Here w...
متن کاملChromatin reprogramming during the somatic-to-reproductive cell fate transition in plants.
The life cycle of flowering plants is marked by several post-embryonic developmental transitions during which novel cell fates are established. Notably, the reproductive lineages are first formed during flower development. The differentiation of spore mother cells, which are destined for meiosis, marks the somatic-to-reproductive fate transition. Meiosis entails the formation of the haploid mul...
متن کاملComparative Principles of DNA Methylation Reprogramming during Human and Mouse In Vitro Primordial Germ Cell Specification
Primordial germ cell (PGC) development is characterized by global epigenetic remodeling, which resets genomic potential and establishes an epigenetic ground state. Here we recapitulate PGC specification in vitro from naive embryonic stem cells and characterize the early events of epigenetic reprogramming during the formation of the human and mouse germline. Following rapid de novo DNA methylati...
متن کاملLET-418/Mi2 and SPR-5/LSD1 Cooperatively Prevent Somatic Reprogramming of C. elegans Germline Stem Cells
Throughout their journey to forming new individuals, germline stem cells must remain totipotent, particularly by maintaining a specific chromatin structure. However, the place epigenetic factors occupy in this process remains elusive. So far, "sensitization" of chromatin by modulation of histone arrangement and/or content was believed to facilitate transcription-factor-induced germ cell reprogr...
